Learn to Skate: FREE
The 2017-2018 required fundraiser for PAHA families will again be the selling of raffle tickets for cash prizes. More details will follow as we get closer to the season.
Required fundraising amount will be the same as last year; $200 for one child, and $60 for each additional child. Fundraising fees are charged up front at the time of registration, but you will have the opportunity to get all that money back if you sell the amount of required raffle tickets. Fundraising fees are eligible for the PAHA payment plan along with player registration fees at the time of registration.
Players that are at the Pee Wee and Bantam levels will pay, in addition to their regular registration, a $150 coaching stipend to help pay the coaches at these levels.
In addition to the above, there will also be the normal tournament assessments that will be charged to each player based on the number of tournaments entered. Included in this assessment is the cost of the tourneys, coach's hotels and meal stipends. This assessment will be figured out by the team manager after the teams are picked and will be based on the number of players and tourneys entered.
Ages: Boys and Girls ages 4-7 years old, who are either beginning skaters, or have the desire to learn to skate and play hockey.
Objective: To help introduce skating and hockey to youth in the Proctor area. To develop and enhance the basic skating skills of beginning players. To introduce the basic structure of youth hockey to players and parents and to allow them the experience of youth hockey at a basic level of committment.
Program: 1-2 days a week once outdoor ice is available on the Proctor Hockey outdoor rinks. 2-4 hours of indoor introductory instruction at the Proctor Arena prior to outdoor ice availability. 1 day Jamboree with other Learn to Skate programs & 1st year Mite 1's. Also will be a part of the annual Craig Hom MiteFest, which is a combined festival for all Mite teams in the Proctor and Twig associations.
Parent Commitment: Getting kids to the rink for practices and jamborees, ensure they are outfitted in proper hockey equipment (equipment can be made available for use through the association). Questions about equipment can be referred to PAHA President, Kevin Bryant (firstname.lastname@example.org or 218-341-5621). Jerseys will be provided to players for practices and jamboree games.
Cost: Unlike at the other levels of hockey at Proctor, parents have no financial commitment to be involved in Learn to Skate. There is no fundraising, concession stand, or outdoor ice maintenance obligations. To participate, players must first register with USA Hockey, which is free for ages 6 and under (PAHA will reimburse 7 year old players the $50 USA Hockey registration fee), then online at www.proctorhockey.com. This program will be practice only and will not include any games. If you would like to be involved in fundraising or want a taste of concession stand or outdoor rink duties, please contact Kevin Bryant (email@example.com or 218-341-5621).
Each Player must register first with USA Hockey and then return to this Registration Session to signup for the 2017-2018 Season.
